Alicudi Island is the westernmost of the Aeolian archipelago and lies about 34 nautical miles (nearly 63 km) west of Lipari. The island is inhabited only on its southern slope, which descends toward the sea in narrow terraces ("lenze") supported by dry stone walls.

So we decided to take a double journey between Alicudi and Ceresole Reale to find out how the school system works in places so small and remote. Both so different from each other—at least at first glance.
If you want to feel the soul of this wild island, you need to stay no less than a couple of days. The minimum to understand its uniqueness, leaving the short seaside promenade to start one of its several trails that climb the mountain, leading to something you couldn"t even imagine while staying below. The sea all around is beautiful, but the true Alicudi is up on the mountain.
